I'm currently tinkering on an update to the project as one of my sideline projects. It is open source, but it has been (slightly) abandoned for a few years it started out as a project on SourceForge but has moved to Github. If it's just a "fractal drawing" aspect that is of necessity to you, then an older program called AutoREALM might be of interest too.
I'd be remiss if I failed to mention another alternative to them - and at this point it's been 4 days without other commentary.

Map making continues today, as we map other planets, the bottom of the seas, and continually produce high quality maps here that measure various aspects of culture, demographics, and geography. Maps have been around for centuries- they help us know what cultures were aware of in terms of their neighbors, other lands, and so on.
