Sending a single soldier to deal with a threat without any cover is a bad idea, better to take it slow. Once an alien is spotted or goes out of hiding I get in position and breach the building with as many soldiers as possible and make sure to cover all soldiers and angles.
#Xenonauts 2 gameplay windows
I keep a tighter formation and cover windows and houses much more, try to make sure to cover all soldiers. Fortunately you get a heads-up when they are present on the map since they often use their psychic attacks. I use two fireteam with one support team and a more assault focused team. This would be an organic way of encouraging conflict since it's not as strict as a turn limited (having to finish a mission in a certain number of turns) but also not as blind as the current system.Īfter losing a few soldiers to Ceasan ambushes i changed my tactics when encountering them. Or there could be something that brings the player-controlled xenonauts and caesans into conflict, like on a terror mission, both sides race to a crowded apartment building and a fight naturally occurs near it. Also, it doesn't make any sense how in X1 you have no idea about the map layout even though the pilot irl would've seen most of the map while landing.
#Xenonauts 2 gameplay full
Depending on map design, having full reveal of an area might be OP, so you could make it only reveals enemies out in the open and later technology allows for scanning enemies inside buildings. Maybe there could be some aerial reconnaissance either done by the local military or your own dropship and every turn you can get something similar to terror mission reveal, but in a small-ish area (maybe about the size of a building). Maybe i am just getting old.or maybe X:CE is making everything worse. I am definately not having as much fun as i had back in 2015.

There is no bloody way i could have done anything different.even if i wait a turn, it will just camp inside the warehouse. The bloody thing appear in the window next to my shield bearer, and blasted him to bits before disappearing to god knows where.

Then i send my shield bearer to the side, hugging the wall. Fire machine gun randomly in the general direction. Clearing houses is fun.up to a certain degree.if it is all there is to combat, it is extremely tedious.Įdit: saw a Caesan moving in a warehouse. Or maybe enemies should operate in squads instead of acting like individual kamikazes. Maybe implement a sound mechanism where your troops can hear the direction of enemy footsteps, or some sort of atomatic scouting robot or sth.

I now find ground combat to be extremely tedious: maps are bigger, there are far more buildings, more hidy spots, and you have limit your movement to a few steps at a time to save TU to check every single spot and every single storey.maybe its because i have less time now, but it just makes ironman very time consuming and unfun. They also use 2nd-stories far more often. With the X:CE mod, i noticed that Caesans now loves to hide in the corners and do suicidal ambush on your troops shield bearers are quite useless against them since 4 plasma easily destroy the shield. I last played Xenonauts back in 2015 and had a great deal of fun during early acess.
